Cybersecurity teams are made of individuals with diverse skills and experiences, who combine forces to address complex industry challenges. It involves collaboration across different cultures, languages, and regions to tackle the global nature of cyber threats. It embraces openness, continuous learning, and collaboration, which are essential for adapting to evolving threats.

Diversity and inclusion are integral to cybersecurity, much like at Hack The Box.

So, how do we walk the talk?

At Hack The Box, diversity and inclusion begin with…

Our people

Behind our platform's 2.8m+ members, every line of code written, every customer interaction, and every component of our culture, are our people: 260+ HTBers from over 25 countries worldwide, including our headquarters in the UK and offices in the US, Australia, and Greece.

Our values

Central to our ethos is the importance of teamwork. We champion respect, kindness, and diversity, understanding that success is achieved collectively. We prioritize the needs of the team over individual desires, ensuring that decisions are made with our vision in mind.

"At Hack The Box, we cultivate a work culture where gender, color, or nationality do not affect team members' career growth. We believe diverse teams bring diverse perspectives and ideas. That’s why our goal is to create a workplace where every team member feels valued and empowered to contribute their best selves," emphasized Haris Pylarinos, Founder and CEO at Hack The Box.

Our policies

Our Equal Employment Opportunity policy ensures fair treatment regardless of race, gender identity, or disability. We also comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), providing reasonable accommodations and preventing disability-based discrimination.

Furthermore, our Anti-Harassment policy fosters a safe workplace, prohibiting harassment based on any protected characteristic. We reinforce this with a clear reporting procedure for prompt and confidential issue resolution.

Our internal initiatives

To celebrate International Women's Day this year, we hosted a webinar on unconscious bias for all HTBers.

We continue our efforts during June, by hosting activities, including Inclusive Leadership training, and Allyship and Advocacy training sessions.

The Inclusive Leadership training aims to develop skills that promote diversity and inclusion across our organization. The Allyship and Advocacy training will focus on supporting LGBTQ+ colleagues.

Our internal surveys

Twice a year, we conduct diversity and inclusion assessments. Our latest survey scores from April 2024 indicate strong positive feedback across various dimensions:

  • People from all backgrounds have equal opportunity to succeed at Hack The Box, scoring 8.76 out of 10.

  • People of all cultures and backgrounds are respected at Hack The Box, achieving a score of 9.3 out of 10.

  • HTB performs well in fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, earning a score of 8.59 out of 10.

Diversity and inclusion at Hack The Box starts and ends with our product…

A place where professionals, teams, and students can find a safe yet challenging environment to grow. A place that prioritizes people's careers, development, and well-being. A place where every cyber professional can strive to bring out their best every single day.

Hack The Box is more than just a platform — it’s a movement towards bridging the 4 million cyber skills gap. By democratizing cyber education, we’ve shifted the focus to providing a playground for cyber enthusiasts, upskilling individuals, and fostering a better way of learning, concluded Haris Pylarinos, Founder and CEO at Hack The Box.
